David Griswold

President and Founder

David is both an avid learner and teacher, constantly aspiring to educate those around him. With several business degrees of his own from Bowling Green State University, University of Cincinnati, and Boston University, as well as decades of teaching finance and economics courses at Simmons University, Reykjavik University, and Boston University, David is well equipped to educate others on the value of financial literacy and planning. His passion for education shows as he teaches clients how to systematically manage their wealth for the long term.

As president and founder, David fused together his extensive and diverse educational and professional backgrounds to form our firm, Vantage Point Financial.

David's career in finance began in international consulting for companies including Tyco International, General Electric, and Citicorp.

He began his career in financial guidance by working for a major national wirehouse. It was there that he learned firsthand the limitations of clients investing through a large investment firm, which prompted his decision to found Vantage Point Financial.

David teaches finance and economics in both the undergraduate and MBA programs at the Boston University School of Management. His courses at Boston University include investments, economics, financial management, and risk management.

David was born and raised in the Midwest as one of 10 children. After completing his bachelor's degree at Bowling Green State University, David went on to complete his MBA in marketing and international business at the University of Cincinnati, and a master's in German literature from Bowling Green State University. David's academic pursuits did not stop there. He went on to earn his doctorate in finance and economics from Boston University, where he was inducted into Beta Gamma Sigma as the top of his doctoral class.

Ashley Ott, CFP®, AIF®

Partner

Ashley has always had a passion for helping people. She earned her BA in psychology from Harvard University and planned on becoming a psychologist after graduation. She never would have thought that 10 years later she would be a co-owner of an independent financial planning firm with offices in Boston, Massachusetts, and Seattle, Washington. She now uses those principles to help families make smart, confident, and educated financial decisions to improve their overall well-being and financial stability.

Ashley derives the energy she brings to her clients from her outside-of-work activities and lifestyle. She splits her year living both in Boston and Seattle with her husband, Tyler, and son, Liam. She volunteers her time by serving as a board member of two non-profit organizations, The Second Step (Newton, MA) and The Wave Foundation (Seattle, WA). When Ashley is not working, volunteering, or enjoying time with her family, you can find her playing ice hockey, hitting the links, or training for her next marathon.
